
Johnny D. Onkst and his wife, Yvette, live in Tulsa. They have one child, Gunner, 3 years old.
R.W. Brother Onkst is the son of Jim and Margie Onkst of Del City his father is a Past Grand Master and his mother is the Grand Secretary of General Grand Chapter order of Eastern Star. Johnny is employed by Otis Elevator Company, a subsidiary of United Technologies Inc. where he received the Outstanding Achievement award for his Continued Excellence and Achievement in 2002. He is listed in Outstanding Young Men of America and as Who’s Who among Business Leaders 2004.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma in Finance/Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University and currently writing a thesis on a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Oklahoma.
R.W. Brother Onkst is a Life member of Jenks Masonic Lodge #497, Nicoma Park Lodge #541, and Del City Lodge #536. Johnny served as Worshipful Master of Jenks Lodge in 1996, Secretary in 1997, and Trustee in 2004. He is a Past District #13 President. He has served the Grand Lodge on the Youth Committee in 1990 and 1991; the Public Relations Committee in 1992; the Public Schools Committee in 1993; the Mets Committee in 1996; the District Deputy Grand Master in 2001 and 2002 of District 13; and Grand Orator 2004. Brother Onkst was elected Junior Grand Warden in 2004. Senior Grand Warden in 2005, Deputy Grand Master in 2006 and Elected Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of AF & AM of the State of Oklahoma November 12, 2007. He is a member of the Guthrie and Tulsa Scottish Rite Valleys, serving as the Assistant Director of the 12 and the Director of the KCCH Investiture Team. He is a member of the Capitol Hill Chapter, Council and Commandery, and Life Member of India Shrine Temple. He is also a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Royal Order of Scotland, Charter Member of Order of White Buffalo and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Johnny was chosen as Chairman of the North America Grand Master Conference for 2008.
In DeMolay he is Past Master Councilor of Del City Chapter and Past Dean of the Legion of Honor in Tulsa, a Chevalier(Past Grand Commander), Past International Congress Advisor for the 33rd and 34th International DeMolay Congress. Johnny is a Past State Master Councilor of Oklahoma in 1985 and was the 19th International Congress Secretary. Johnny has been very active with Order of DeMolay in Oklahoma where he served as Chapter Dad of Delta Chapter and won Chapter of the year in 1995. He also holds the Zerebubal Key and Guild of the Leather Distinction. In Oklahoma DeMolay, he has served as Director of Chapter Development, Field Representative, Director of Membership, Director of Finance, and Secretary of the Oklahoma DeMolay Trust. Johnny is Active Member of the International Supreme Council and serves on the Congress and Nominating Committee.
Dad Onkst enjoys spending time with his son Gunner, playing golf and serves on boards of Junior Achievement, Special Olympics, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Oklahoma while looking forward to taking Gunner to University of Oklahoma Football Games someday.
In the community Johnny serves on the Board of Building Owners Management Association where he is a candidate for Real Property Administrator for Building Owners Management Institute. Johnny has spent many years teaching and training the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey as well as being active with his church of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
